Changes in Washington State

At a public meeting with MLCC Chairman Andy Deloney, we heard word that the Governor’s office has not ruled out pursuing an option similar to that recently adopted in Washington – complete privatization of liquor sales in Michigan.  While we pass no opinion on the matter at this time, all members of the three-tier system should consider all possible avenues and consequences before taking action.   This article (below), recently published in Washington, demonstrates how unintended consequences could harm local distillers.  Michigan’s craft industry continues to grow, fueling our economy and reputation, and any changes in Michigan should be developed to promote, not inhibit, such growth.
